Thanks be to God from whom all blessing flow; who has kept us standing in the world of perplexities.
The church in Fairmont was established in 1964 when the late Mother Lula Brunson heard Elder R.F. Davis during a radio broadcast program. Mother Brunson was so moved and inspired by the fervent teachings of the baptism in Jesus’ name and the gift of the Holy Ghost that she decided to meet Elder Davis in person by taking trips to the radio station. After a couple of visits, she had the opportunity to meet with him and they engage in conversation that eventually resulted in the establishment of the Greater Highway Church of Christ, Fairmont, NC.
The church was originally located on Phillips Street where Mother Brunson began ministering to a small congregation. One of the first members was Mother Iolar Bullard who is still a loyal servant and diligent laborer of the church. As time progressed, God began to add to the church daily such as should be saved. The church relocated to Happy Hill, but the building was destroyed as a result of a car collision. Under the direction of Bishop Davis, “so built we the wall” on 132 Washington Drive where we currently worship today.
After the failing health of Mother Brunson in the early 1980’s, Elder HB Drake (then Minister Drake) was installed as pastor. The church was recently renovated under the direction of Elder Drake and the Lord continues to add to the church daily.
