The Greater Highway Church Of Christ Fayetteville (formerly The Highway Church of Christ) began in April 1962 at the home of Sis. Ruby Richardson. In those days we did, as those in the Book of Acts, went from house to house. Bishop R.F. Davis held Bible Class with the congregants, teaching the baptism in Jesus name. The Bible Class consisted of Sis. Ruby Richardson, her family, the Late Sister Mamie Williams, the late Gertrude and Wesley McLean, Brother Ocie and Sister Josephine Harvey, and Sister Helena Eady-Gallopes. In September 1962, the first building was erected. Bishop R.F. Davis called it a "tabernacle". It was a temporary place of worship. During 1982-1983 the church was moved to 2275 Slater Avenue where a remodeled sanctuary stands today. During the renovations, we held church in the Colvin Funeral Home Chapel on Murchison Road. Bishop R.F. Davis pastored the church until October 2005 when he was led to relinquish the pastorship to one of his faithful servants. During the General Convention in October 2005 Bishop Davis installed Elder Ricky Jones as Pastor of the Greater Highway Church of Christ in Fayetteville where he remains a faithful servant.
