Pastor Sidney Melvin the son of Pastor Christine Rich of Fayetteville, N.C. was born in 1955 in Queens, New York. Elder Melvin married Clenice Delphine Melvin in 1980, and they have two sons, one daughter, two daughter-in-laws, one son-in-law, and four grandchildren.

Elder Melvin received an education in Industrial Machine Mechanics from Fayetteville Technical Community College. He also was educated in Industrial Management and Supervision from his employer, Purolator Filter and Oil Products, Inc., where he has been employed for over 30 years.

Elder Melvin became a member of The Greater Highway Church of Christ in Vander in 1985 and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. He began to work faithfully in the house of God under the leadership of the late Pastor Alice McKinnon until he received the gift of the Holy Ghost. God began to bless Elder Melvin spiritually. He was appointed Sunday School Superintendent and ordained Deacon by The Greater Highway Church of Christ, Inc. Ordination Committee under the leadership of Bishop R. F. Davis.

Elder Melvin proved himself to God and his fellow man to be a spiritual leader for God’s people. In 2001, God called then Deacon Melvin to preach the Gospel of the Apostolic Doctrine of Jesus Christ to all people. He was later ordained Elder and Pastor of the Greater Highway Church Of Christ, Vander, NC. Elder Melvin loves people and will do what he can to help anyone; but his main objective is to preach God’s Word so that everyone will know the truth and make it to Heaven. He firmly believes Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people.
